On Saturday July 29, 2017, from 12:00pm – 5:00pm, My Brother’s Keeper York, PA will hold their second annual Community Cookout, at Albemarle Park, 177 S. Albemarle Street, York, PA. The event will provide the opportunity for our youth and community to enjoy entertainment, activities, and mentorship opportunities for those youth in our community that are seeking positive male role models. The event is free and open to the public.
My Brother’s Keeper York, PA, in alignment with President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Community Challenge, seeks to eliminate opportunity gaps, barriers, and challenges facing youth in our community, including boys and young men of color, to ensure that all young people in our community are positioned for success.
My Brother’s Keeper York, PA has decided upon focusing their first two years of the initiative on the Goals 2 & 6 of the initiative, which are to assist in ensuring that all children read at grade level by third grade and assist in ensuring that all youth remain safe from violent crime.
“Encouraging the interconnectedness and mentorship between our youth and our males in the community, is an important aspect in encouraging growth and achievement in the lives of our young people,” states Mayor Bracey.
