SUMMARY:42nd Annual Olde York Street Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Olde York Street Fair is a Mother’s Day tradition in downtown York. The event takes place in and around Continental Square. This free event features more than 100 vendors of handmade arts and crafts\, a Kid’s Fun Block with bounce houses\, games\, face painting\, coloring pages\, and other entertainment. \nFood vendors will sell traditional American festival food as well as original creations. Fifty percent of all food vendor proceeds will go to support local non-profit organizations. Ticket sales in the Kid’s Fun Block will support York City Special Events. \nThe Olde York Street Fair will begin with remarks from Mayor Bracey and the singing of the National Anthem by a William Penn High School student. \nSeveral stage areas near Continental Square will feature live entertainment in a variety of genres. Check back in the spring for a list of 2017 performers. \nThe American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 11:30am-4pm in front of the York County Historical Society Museum\, 250 East Market Street. To schedule an appointment\, please call 1-800-RedCross or visit www.redcross.org. Walk-ins are welcome\, but appointments will take precedence. George Street\, 10:45-11:00 a.m. \nCommunity organizations\, businesses\, youth groups\, and families are all welcome to be a part of this great initiative designed to keep our community vibrant and beautiful. \nMayor Bracey encourages everyone to do their part in helping to keep the city of York looking its best. \nThis is a “Litter Only” Cleanup ~ NO LARGE ITEMS ~Curbside customers should call 843-1240 to get a scheduled date for collection of household furniture and appliance items. Collections are scheduled 7 – 10 days in advance.

DESCRIPTION:On Sunday January 15\, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Mayor C. Kim Bracey and Lincoln Charter School invite you to the The 5th Annual MLK America’s Sunday Supper: Where Do We Go From Here?  The event will take place at Lincoln Charter School\, 559 W. King St.\, York\, PA. This is the fifth year for this thought provoking and encouraging event.  The event is free and open to the public and doors will open at 3:30 p.m.\n\nThe community is encouraged to join together\, share a meal\, view a community film and enjoy a guided community discussion on the topic of Unity.\n\nOn the date of the event\, community members are encouraged to bring as a donation the following items to provide a “Gentlemen’s Bag” to support our young men in the community being mentored by The City of York’s My Brother’s Keeper York\, PA Men:  Deodorant\, Soap\, Toothpaste\, Toothbrushes\, Socks\, Lotion\, Mints/Chewing Gum.  Community members unable to attend the event\, but interested in providing donations\, please bring them to York City Hall\, 101 S. George Street\, York\, PA or Lincoln Charter School\, 559 W. King Street\, York\, PA..\n\n“It gives me great pleasure to once again honor the rich legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. in the City of York by encouraging our community to gather together\, give back\, and openly discuss our progress in living up to his dreams as a community\,” states Mayor Bracey.\n\nMLK America’s Sunday Supper is a national event sponsored by Points of Light\, which is inspired by the legacy of Dr. King to invite individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together\, share a meal\, and discuss issues that affect their community\, while highlighting the power that each individual has to make a difference.
