An FTE employee is an employee working a 40-hour work week where there is a 40-hour work week. This is 1 FTE employee. 1 part-time employee where there is a 40-hour workweek should have their hours divided by 40. This percentage – say, 0.5 for someone working 20 hours – is what should be added to the FTE employee total. If a full-time work week is less than 40 hours, the hours worked should be divided by the number of hours in the work week.
