YORK CITY HEALTH BUREAU OFFERING H1N1 VACCINE TO HIGH-RISK CHILDREN AND ADULTS WHO RESIDE IN YORK CITY

The York City Bureau of Health announces that it's offering free H1N1 vaccine by appointment to high-risk children and adults who reside in York City. The Bureau's nursing staff will continue to vaccinate York City School children in the weeks ahead, but will set aside as many as 15 hours per week to offer H1N1 vaccines at the Health Center.

The CDC has identified the following groups as priority groups for receiving the vaccination.
· Pregnant women
· Persons six months to 24 years old
· Healthcare providers and EMS personnel
· Parents, household members or caregivers of children under 6 months
· Those under 65 with significant underlying medical conditions
plentiful.

York City residents should call the York City Bureau of Health at 815-0910 to schedule an appointment for themselves or their family members. Proof of City residency is required to take part in this free vaccine program. For more information visit this page.

TOWING DISCONTINUED
YEAR-ROUND STREET SWEEPING AND TICKETING CONTINUE

The City of York announces that towing is discontinued, effective immediately. However, year-round street sweeping and ticketing continue. Year-round street sweeping and ticketing take place on certain streets in the City of York on Friday mornings, 7:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. For a complete list of streets visit this page.

The fine for no parking is $25. For questions about when a street is posted for no parking please call the Highway Bureau at 849-2320.

YORK CITY TRASH COLLECTIONS DELAYED 1-DAY
12/10/2009

Due to the Christmas holiday, all regular Friday trash collections will be delayed one day. Due to the New Year’s holiday, all regular Friday trash collections will be delayed one day. For these two holiday weeks only, Friday trash collections will be picked up on Saturday. Collections for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are not affected and will be picked up on the regular day. Additionally, City offices will be closed on Thursday, December 24th and Friday, December 25, 2009 in observance of  the Christmas holiday and on Friday, January 1, 2010 in observance of  the New Year’s holiday.

NORTHWEST TRIANGLE SEWER REPLACEMENT PROJECT
12/01/2009

Beginning on December 21st, contractors working for the City of York began work on the Northwest Triangle Sewer Replacement project. This is a large project that is expected to take over five months to complete. The project will replace over 2,500 feet of existing sanitary sewer pipe in the following blocks:

· N. George St., from Arch St. to North St.
· W. North St., from N. George St. to N. Beaver St.
· N. Beaver St., from W. North St. to W. Gay St.
· W. Gay St., from N. Beaver St. to N. Park St.
· N. Park St., from W. Gay St. to W. Philadelphia St.
· W. Philadelphia St., from N. Park St. to N. Pershing Ave.

The first phase of this project will begin on N. George St., between North St. and Arch St.  Traffic delays and some road closures are expected during this project. Please take into consideration the changes in traffic flow through this area when making your travel plans. CITY OF YORK STARTS REBUILD YORK PROJECTS

Mayor John S. Brenner announced The City of York will begin the three (3) year Rebuild York projects to mill and pave streets throughout the City beginning Monday, June 22, 2009. The project is scheduled to continue until 2011.
