The ” Angels of the Park Program” was developed in 2002 to motivate and empower local businesses, neighborhood associations, civic organizations, non-profits, clubs and scouting organizations to take “ownership” of our parks. The City of York is fortunate to have one park for every 1/2 square mile in the City. It is designed to get the community involved in helping to renovate our parks during these economically challenging times, and to provide healthy, clean recreation spaces for our residents.
What Angels Do – Essentially adopt a park of your choosing to help improve the greenspace by organizing clean-ups, making landscaping enhancements, planting trees, painting, and purchasing supplies and equipment. The options are endless.
How Are Angels Recognized – Publicized dedication ceremony, signage prominently posted, and social media and website posts.
How to Become Involved – If you are interested in helping to make our parks a better place for children and families of York City, please contact Tom Landis, Superintendent, Parks & Recreation Bureau, 717-854-1587.
Who knows, you may end up helping to make a difference in our community!
