Friends Meetinghouse — 135 West Philadelphia Street

  • Back by request, Flute and Friends Duo, flutist Ed Norton and keyboardist Fran Norton, will delight York audiences again, giving two performances on New Year’s Eve at the York Friends (Quaker) Meetinghouse, 135 West Philadelphia Street, at 7:30 and 8:45 pm. The Duo will give an informal concert of baroque and light classical music intertwined with anecdotes and humor. Beverages and snacks will be available. The concerts are free, donations are welcome. Visitors are also encouraged to enjoy the quiet charm of the historic meetinghouse and its two and a half century witness to the Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship.
  • A center for Quaker activities in York since 1766, the York Friends Meetinghouse is alive and well, with members and attenders coming together for silent worship every Sunday morning. It shares its commitment to the community through participation in and support of local and global causes and advocates on behalf of the environment through its native plant, pollinator-friendly gardens, community gardens, and beehives.

Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, in partnership with Weary Arts Group — 50 North George Street

  • Pull out the fish net stockings and red lip stick,  The Rocky Horror Picture Show returns to the Capitol Theatre on New Year’s Eve with live action players!
  • It’s the weird and wonderful as newly engaged couple Brad and Janet encounter a problem when their car halts in the rain. They both look for contact, only to find themselves at the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite. A place to stay is offered, but will Brad and Janet want to remain there? Especially when a large group of Transylvanians dance to the ‘Time Warp’, Dr. Frank-N-Furter builds his own man and a whole host of participation for the audience to enjoy.
