Important Steps Before Your Ribbon Cutting

Before we can lock in your date, let’s review a few important details to ensure your business is fully prepared to shine.

Business Requirements

You need to meet the following requirements:

  • Business must be physically located within the City of York.
  • Submitted a New Business Application to the City of York.
  • Obtained a valid Certificate of Compliance or Occupancy.
  • Secured a General Food License, if the business involves food handling or preparation.
  • Acquired any other required permits applicable to your business type.
  • Applications must be submitted at least 30 days prior to event.

Submission Process

What happens after you submit?:

  • City staff will review your request and contact you to confirm approval or provide further details.
  • Submitting does not guarantee approval or scheduling.
  • If the request is approved, the ceremonial ribbon and scissors will be provided for the event.
  • Please allow up to 5 business days for a response after submission.
  • If your event plans change after approval, please notify the City as soon as possible to reschedule or cancel.

🕒 Availability Notice:

Ribbon cuttings are typically scheduled Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. After-hours and weekend events cannot be accommodated. Please plan your request accordingly
