What is the Hybrid Trash Collection Service Program?
The new Hybrid Trash Collection Service Program begins May 1, 2025. The program utilizes semi-automated service trucks to pick up BAGGED TRASH ONLY for efficient pick-up operations and is being implemented in the following refuse districts: Fireside, Colony Park, Springdale and the Avenues.
Residents will receive a trash tote (two-wheeled trash can with lid). Totes will be used for bagged trash disposal ONLY. Do not use the container for recyclables or yard waste. Please bag all trash and place the bags in the tote to help us keep our City clean. The goal is to minimize the risk of staff injuries during the waste collection process.
The Hybrid Trash Collection Service Program is routed in refuse districts with sufficient space to accommodate the movement of personnel and the specialized trucks. It was found that it would be more difficult to nearly impossible to implement the Hybrid Trash Collection Service Program in refuse districts with a high volume of on-street parking as it is hard to maneuver the equipment.
If placing trash bags at the curb, the SIX BAG LIMIT PER COLLECTION DAY still applies.
Tote Size: 96 gallons
The totes are City property and must stay at the assigned address. Each tote is coded and assigned to a specific address.
The cost to replace lost, stolen or damaged TRASH totes is $75.00 per tote.

- Fireside (Parkway Blvd. to Route 30 and Pennsylvania Ave. to Roosevelt Ave.)

General Information
- The trash collection days did not change.
- Instead of placing your recycling bin/can curbside the first day of the collection service, it will now be placed curbside the second day of the collection service.
- If your recycling day is Monday your recycling will now be picked up on THURSDAY.
- If your recycling day is Tuesday your recycling will now be picked up on FRIDAY.
- This change does not affect the collection service for Yard Waste. Yard Waste will remain the first collection day of the week as normal.
- Trash/Recycling/Yard Waste pick-up points did not change.
- Recycling and Yard Waste containers will remain the same.
- Please continue to use the current green containers for recycling (round or square) and the yellow round container for Yard Waste. Recycling and Yard Waste containers can be purchased at City Hall for $3.00 each. Proof of residency is required.
