The following construction projects are scheduled the week beginning January 22, 2024 and will affect traffic in the City of York. Pending weather or other unexpected events, the projects will affect the indicated roads

The City of York is pleased to announce the beneficiaries of the Nonprofit Economic Recovery Grant Program funded by the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) under the American Rescue Plan Act.

Low temperatures all week made for constant refreezing and icy conditions. A second winter storm combined with record low temperatures make it unsafe for crews to perform curbside collections the remainder of this week.

The City of York today announced that its Gamewell fire alarm system is being retired due to difficulty of replacing central system infrastructure at the Rex/Laurel fire stations and the ongoing exorbitant cost and maintenance of the system. City Ordinance Section 1501.04(15) still requires maintaining a fire alarm system through a third-party contractor.

As we begin the winter season of 2024, the City of York snow emergency team wants to remind businesses of some of the York City Snow Emergency Regulations Specifically, as they apply to plowing of private parking lots and the disposal of snow.

Residents should listen to local radio and television stations or log on to the City's website for announcements of a snow emergency.

Due to the overnight snow and hazardous driving conditions, the City of York announces to curbside customers that there be NO curbside collections today, Tuesday, January 16th. This affects collections Tuesday through Friday.

A new all-way stop will go into effect at the intersection of West Maple and Manor Streets. Currently, there are only stop signs for West Maple traffic.

Major improvements to Continental Square are scheduled to begin the week of January 15, 2024. The improvements will make the Square more visibly attractive year-round as well as more pedestrian-friendly. No City tax dollars will be used to pay for the project thanks to the generous support of the Rotary Club of York and a new endowment at the York County Community Foundation.

Today, the Redevelopment Authority of the City of York (RDA) announces that it has purchased the 17.3-Acre campus of Dentsply Sirona, Inc. on West College Avenue.
