August Is National Immunization Awareness Month

The City of York – Bureau of Health is once again participating in this vital observance as routine vaccinations during childhood and adolescence can prevent many diseases that were once very common. Many people missed routine vaccines during the pandemic and now need to get caught up with the recommended immunization schedule.

National Immunization Awareness Month reminds us of the importance to get recommended vaccines throughout your lifetime. You have the power to protect yourself and your family against serious diseases like Whooping Cough, Chicken Pox, Meningitis, Cancers caused by HPV, Pneumonia, Influenza, and Measles.

To help keep our families and communities safe, the York City Health Bureau encourages you to talk to your health care provider to ensure you and your family members are up to date on recommended vaccines. Getting vaccines on time is one of the most important ways to protect yourself and others from serious diseases. When you get vaccinated, you not only protect yourself, but you also help protect the people around you who might be too young or unable to get vaccinated themselves.

The York City Health Bureau offers FREE immunizations for eligible children and adults. Please call (717) 849-2299 to make an appointment or visit our Facebook page for more information.

Remember the start of the new school year is just a few short weeks away and up-to-date vaccines are required to attend.
