City of York Human Relations Commission to Host Diversity Event: “Embracing Our Differences, Building Bridges: Our Collective Power”

The City of York Human Relations Commission is excited to announce this year’s Diversity Event, Friday, April 26, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts.

This year’s event will feature and interview with award winning documentarian Yoruba Richen and will include the screening of the movie Rustin. Attendees will be able to purchase a Full or a Partial Event Ticket. The Full Event includes a reception with heavy appetizers and time to mingle with friends and community stakeholders. We will also award our youth coalition leaders, honor our community sponsors and collaborators, and be captivated by the spoken word brilliance of Rev. Carla Cristopher. The evening will be topped off with a scintillating conversation with our guest, Ms. Richen, and the fascinating story of Bayard Rustin. The Partial Event will include our guest presenter and the movie Rustin. Please note there are complimentary tickets available for community groups or individuals, anyone who would like to attend the partial event are unable to purchase admission (while supplies last).

HRC would like to express immense gratitude for our major collaborators, the Appell Center for the Performing Arts and the City of York Health Bureau. Tickets can be purchased through the Appell Center. We would also like to thank our most recent supporters: Affordable Housing Advocates, York College of Pennsylvania, York County Community Foundation, YWCA, Family First, and the Democratic Party of York County. If you would like to become a sponsor or purchase an ad, please contact Saymara Tabales, at 717-846-2926, or stabales@yorkcity.org.
