Republic Services encouraged residents to stay safe by not approaching garbage trucks. Specifically, residents:
- Should not attempt to throw items into the compaction areas of the truck;
- Should not approach a truck that is in the act of dumping the container into the compaction area;
- Should not attempt to get the operator’s attention while they are operating the compaction mechanism or the arm that dumps containers.
These acts are very dangerous and resident safety is paramount. Please also teach children to not throw garbage into the compaction area or distract garbage truck operators.
