Mayor Michael Helfrich and other representatives from the City of York will join with Ciocca Subaru and their Subaru Ambassadors on Tuesday, May 14 at 11:00 am to spotlight the community garden in Yorktown Park. The location for the press conference is the Park itself, 1089 Kelly Drive.
This is the second year in a row that Subaru volunteers have planted vegetables, herbs, and flowers in the community garden’s ten boxes. There will be tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, yellow squash, sweet peppers, jalapeños, chives, cilantro, parsley, and basil. Subaru volunteers will begin planting this year’s garden during the hour before the press conference.
The idea behind a community garden is to generate community neighbors around Yorktown Park who will take part in caring for the vegetables throughout the summer so that they can enjoy harvesting them and eating them.
