The following construction projects are scheduled the week beginning February 26, 2024

Curbside Yard Waste Collections Resume Monday, March 4th and Tuesday, March 5th

Weather permitting, York City curbside customers may begin to place yard waste at their designated pick-up point for collection on their normal recycling day, beginning Monday, March 4th.

N George St. Closed on March 2

On Saturday, March 2, N George St. will be closed to traffic from Philadelphia St. to North St.

Curbside Collections Cancelled for Tuesday 2/13/24 in York City

All curbside collections for Tuesday 2/13/24 have been cancelled in York City. All items placed out for collection should be immediately pulled back, so they do not become frozen to the ground or snow covered.

47 Columbia Ave. Structure Fire with Three Civilian Fatalities

On Wednesday February 7, 2024, at 0611hours, the City of York Department of Fire/Rescue Services was dispatched to 47 Columbia Ave. for a structure fire.

N George St. Closed on February 17

On Saturday, February 17, N George St. will be closed to traffic from Philadelphia St. to North St. So will the sidewalk on the west side of George St. in that area. This is to accommodate a crane lift to the KBG law firm building. Travelers can still take either Beaver St. or Duke St., which run parallel to George St.

Curbside Trash Collection Cancelled Remainder of This Week in York City

Low temperatures all week made for constant refreezing and icy conditions. A second winter storm combined with record low temperatures make it unsafe for crews to perform curbside collections the remainder of this week.

City Gamewell System Being Retired, Other Options Being Examined

The City of York today announced that its Gamewell fire alarm system is being retired due to difficulty of replacing central system infrastructure at the Rex/Laurel fire stations and the ongoing exorbitant cost and maintenance of the system. City Ordinance Section 1501.04(15) still requires maintaining a fire alarm system through a third-party contractor.
