Abbreviated Large-Item Scheduling

TUESDAYS/WEDNESDAYS/THURSDAYS 9 AM - Noon

“LIVE” Calls Only – Begins Tuesday, June 16th

On Tuesday, June 16th, the City of York will begin scheduling household items on a VERY LIMITED basis.  This means, if you have a large item that can wait, you are ask to hold onto it a bit longer until the City resumes normal staffing and operations.

That said, this service had been suspended for several weeks and people do move and do purchase new household items, leaving old items to be discarded.

Keep in mind that our services are limited due to City furloughs.  The secretary will answer only “live” calls at 717-843-1240 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9 am – noon, beginning Tuesday June 16th.

Because only one call can be handled at a time, customers may get the large-item voice message even during these hours.  This simply means the secretary is on another call.  Please dial back in a couple minutes.

To report a “missed” collection related to trash, household items that are already scheduled, recycling, or yard waste, York City customers should call the Public Works line at 717-849-2245.  However, do not leave any messages requesting to schedule large items as those messages will not be returned.  To schedule, you must call “live” to the Large item line at 717-843-1240 on  Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, 9 am – noon, beginning June 16th.

Items must be placed at the pick up point after 5 pm the night before and by 6 am on the day of your scheduled collection.  Property maintenance inspectors may cite violations for unscheduled items or items placed too early outside of properties.

Your continued understanding and patience is very much appreciated.
