Curbside Yard Waste Collection Resumes Monday, March 2nd and Tuesday, March 3rd Weather Permitting

The City of York announces that curbside yard waste collection will resume beginning Monday, March 2, 2026. Residents may begin placing yard waste at their designated pick-up location on their regularly scheduled recycling day.

The 2026 yard waste season runs from March 2 through November 30. During this period, all yard waste must be kept separate from regular household trash and prepared according to the following guidelines:

BRUSH: Bundled branches less than 4 inches in diameter; maximum bundle size 3 ft. x 3 ft.; 40-pound weight limit. Brush may also be placed in authorized yellow yard waste cans (40-pound maximum). Materials must not extend above the rim of cans.

LEAVES / PRUNINGS / GARDEN RESIDUE (NO GRASS CLIPPINGS): Use biodegradable kraft paper bags (32-gallon maximum; 40-pound limit) or authorized yellow yard waste cans (40-pound maximum). Materials must not extend above the rim of cans or bags.

Plastic bags are NOT permitted and will result in no collection. Do NOT line yard waste cans with plastic bags. Grass clippings must be placed with regular trash and count toward the normal trash bag limit.

Yard waste containers are available for purchase to York City residents only at the Customer Service Center, City Hall, 101 S. George Street, York, PA 17401. Cost: $3.00 each (cash only).
