Mayor’s Monthly Message

August in the City of York: Building Strong Blocks, Supporting Families, and Investing in Our Future

August is a month of connection, preparation, and celebration across the City of York. As summer winds down and families prepare for a new school year, the City is proud to partner with residents, organizations, businesses, and community leaders on initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods, promote public safety, and create opportunities for every York resident.

Throughout the month, Mayor Sandie Walker’s administration will continue advancing key priorities centered around Strong Blocks, Strong York, Safe Streets, Shared Responsibility, Grow York Local, and the York Youth Pathway initiative.

National Night Out – August 4
Strong Blocks, Strong York | Safe Streets, Shared Responsibility
Details Here.

National Night Out is more than an annual event – it’s a nationwide movement that brings neighbors, first responders, and local organizations together to build safer, stronger communities. Residents are encouraged to attend neighborhood gatherings throughout York to meet police officers, firefighters, community organizations, and fellow neighbors in a relaxed and welcoming environment. By strengthening relationships and encouraging open communication, we create neighborhoods where everyone shares responsibility for keeping our streets safe. Strong neighborhoods begin with engaged neighbors, and National Night Out is an opportunity to celebrate the people who make York a better place to live every day.
