The 2026 yard waste season runs from March 2 through November 30. During this period, all yard waste must be kept separate from regular household trash and prepared according to the following guidelines
The City of York is inviting residents who are passionate about their community to step forward and serve on one of the City’s many boards, authorities, and commissions.
Due to the County of York replacing the HVAC cooling tower on the roof of the Judicial Center at 45 N. George Street, East Philadelphia Street will be closed from North Duke Street to North George Street from 5:00 AM Friday, February 13 through Sunday evening, February 15.
York City Public Works crews will be removing snow in the downtown area on Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. North George Street from King Street to Philadelphia Street will be closed to traffic.
Residents are asked to please be patient as trash collection continues following the recent snowstorm. Our waste hauler is working hard and making every effort to reach all areas as quickly and safely as possible. However, due to weather conditions and road accessibility, some neighborhoods may experience delays, and trash may not be collected on the regularly scheduled day. If your trash is not picked up as expected, please leave your trash at the curb. The hauler will be returning to service all affected areas, and all missed collections are expected to be completed later this week.
The City of York reminds residents and property owners that the Property Maintenance Code requires snow and ice be removed from sidewalks within 12 hours of the end of a winter weather storm.
Due to the overnight snow and hazardous driving conditions, the City of York announces to curbside trash customers that there be NO curbside collections Monday, January 26th. This affects collections Tuesday through Friday.
