The countdown to the school year is on, and Penn Market is excited to announce a dynamic community event that promises to make a significant difference in the lives of local students. In collaboration with LexisKickzz LLC, Penn Market proudly presents the “Back-to-School Giveaway,” a free event designed to ensure that children in York, PA are fully prepared for a successful academic journey.
Scheduled for Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Penn Market, 380 W Market St., the “Back-to-School Giveaway” will kick off at 10:00 am and continue while supplies last. The event promises an exciting lineup of offerings, including:
· Free Book Bags and School Supplies: Attendees will have the opportunity to receive complimentary book bags filled with essential school supplies, setting the stage for a productive and organized school year.
· Haircuts: A fresh haircut can boost confidence and help students start the school year with a positive outlook. Licensed barbers will be on-site to provide free haircuts, ensuring that students not only look their best but feel their best as well.
· Face Painting: Imagination and creativity will run wild as a talented face painter transforms young faces into works of art. This engaging activity will bring smiles to the faces of students and provide a fun and memorable experience for all.
· Lucky Sneaker Giveaway: As a special highlight of the event, one fortunate student will be chosen to receive a free pair of sneakers.
Children must be present to receive items. Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Penn Market is owned and operated by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of York and contains over 30 vendors, supplying an abundance of local agriculture. In addition, there are stands selling prepared foods freshly made with ingredients purchased from other market vendors. Penn Market continues to operate year-round as the oldest continually operating farmers market in York, with hours of operation Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday 6 am to 3 pm.
