Coronavirus Declaration of Disaster Emergency

Today Mayor Michael R. Helfrich announced in a press conference held at the front steps of York City Hall that he has issued a Declaration of Disaster Emergency for the City of York relating to the spread of COVID-19 / Coronavirus.

Today’s announcement is the result of a well-coordinated effort from the Mayor’s administration. Several city officials were present next to the Mayor during the announcement. In addition to the remarks made by Mayor Helfrich, City of York Bureau of Health Director, Barb Kovacs; and City of York Medical Director, Dr. Matthew Howie, also addressed the public. Victoria Connor, Chair of the York St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, also spoke regarding the cancellation of this event. State Representative, Carol Hill-Evans; and City of York Councilman, Lou Rivera, were also present with the Mayor and his administration during this important moment.
