HEAT AFFECTS START TIME FOR COLLECTIONS IN YORK CITY
COLLECTION DAYS NOT AFECTED BY JULY 4TH HOLIDAY
COLLECTIONS TO BEGIN 1 HOUR EARLY AT 5 A.M.

(June 30, 2021) York, PA – Physical labor during extreme heat poses increased risk to outdoor workers who must protect themselves against sun and heat exposure. Hot temperatures and high humidity combined often result in heat-related illness like heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
Due to dangerously high temperatures (in the 90’s) and humidity forecasted for our area during the week of July 5th through Friday July 9th, all collections by Republic Services for that week will begin one hour earlier, at 5 a.m. in York City.
Although City offices will be closed on Monday, July 5th in observance of the Independence Day Holiday, the hauler will be performing collections on regular collection days, beginning at 5 a.m.
Keep in mind that during summer’s extreme heat, it is possible the City may periodically approve days/weeks of collections to begin at 5 a.m. For this reason, it is recommended to place items out for collection after 5 p.m. the evening prior to normal collection. If a 5 a.m. start time is approved for specific dates, the crews will not return for items placed out after 5 a.m.

RECOLECCIONES PARA COMENZAR 1 HORA ANTES A LAS 5 A.M.

(30 de junio de 2021) York, PA – El trabajo físico durante el calor extremo representa un mayor riesgo para los trabajadores al aire libre que deben protegerse contra la exposición al sol y al calor. Las temperaturas altas y la alta humedad combinadas a menudo resultan en enfermedades relacionadas con el calor, como el agotamiento por calor o la insolación.
Debido a las temperaturas peligrosamente altas (en los años 90) y la humedad pronosticada para nuestra área durante la semana del 5 de julio al viernes 9 de julio, todas las recolecciones de Republic Services para esa semana comenzarán una hora antes, a las 5 a.m. en la ciudad de York.
Aunque las oficinas de la Ciudad estarán cerradas el lunes 5 de julio en observancia del Día de la Independencia, el transportista realizará recolecciones en los días regulares de recolección, comenzando a las 5 a.m.
Tenga en cuenta que durante el calor extremo del verano, es posible que la Ciudad apruebe periódicamente días / semanas de recolección para comenzar a las 5 a.m. Por esta razón, se recomienda colocar los artículos para la recolección después de las 5 p.m. la noche anterior a la recolección normal. Si se aprueba una hora de inicio a las 5 a.m. para fechas específicas, las cuadrillas no regresarán por los artículos colocados después de las 5 a.m.
