Join a Ribbon Cutting for The New Continental Square

Coinciding with First Friday May, the City of York will be holding a ribbon cutting for Continental Square’s new landscaping. Gather on the southwest corner of the Square on May 3 at 8:00 pm. Newly installed landscape lighting will be lit for the first time.

The Rotary Club of York funded the new landscaping and lighting. The planters in the Square needed new trees as the old ones were dying. With the new trees, the planters were also refreshed with low-growing shrubs, perennials, and seasonal pansies.

An endowment has been created at the York County Community Foundation to sustain the upkeep of future landscaping in the planters on the Square, including watering, mulching, and the three plantings of the annuals that will provide seasonal color.

Located at the intersection of Market Street and George Street, Continental Square has been at the center of our community for well over two centuries. Improvements in the Square as well as the aforementioned endowment will help preserve the Square for generations to come.
