“Light up York” to Illuminate Continental Square with Holiday Traditions, Family Fun, and Community Celebration

The City of York will shine brighter than ever this holiday season as Light Up York, presented by WellSpan Health, returns to Continental Square for a festive community celebration featuring cultural traditions, live entertainment, and local culinary favorites on December 5, 2025 from 5 to 8 PM. Families and community members are invited to join in the magic of the season with activities designed to inspire connection, joy, and holiday spirit.

The event will feature the tree lighting ceremony, a heartwarming holiday book reading on stage, karaoke, and a special Hanukkah presentation honoring the Festival of Lights and celebrating York’s rich cultural diversity. Continental Square will also host an exciting lineup of food trucks and other vendors, offering everything from seasonal sweets to savory favorites for attendees to enjoy throughout the night.

Families are encouraged to visit Martin Library, where Shipley Energy has sponsored a visit with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, giving children and loved ones the opportunity to capture a cherished holiday milestone with the man in red.

“Light Up York brings the community together to celebrate the warmth, unity, and traditions that define this season,” said Tristalyn Bixler-Kint, Founder Kint Productions, LLC. “We’re grateful to WellSpan Health, Powder Mill Foundation and Shipley Energy for their support in creating a memorable experience for families across York.”

The celebration reflects a communitywide effort to amplify togetherness downtown, spotlight local businesses and nonprofits, and provide an inclusive holiday experience for residents and visitors alike.
