On Thursday, January 30, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., the City of York Department of Fire/Rescue Services will be holding a vehicle dedication for Service 99-1 at Station 99-2 273 W Market St. York, PA 17401
This vehicle was purchased by the York City Volunteer Fireman’s Relief Association in 2019. Service 99-1 is a 2019 Freightliner and has numerous capabilities. Service 99-1 is equipped with an air cascade system that allows firefighters to get their self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) filled on the scene of a fire. It is equipped with a compressor that fills the air cascade system while operating ensuring that there is enough air to fill all SCBA’s throughout an incident. The vehicle is also equipped with a light tower which has been utilized to assist not only on the scene of a fire, it can also assist with lighting for law enforcement.
Service 99-1 is also equipped with a refrigerator which carries water and Gatorade for emergency responders on the scene of an incident.Service 99-1 is operated by City of York Department of Fire/Rescue Services volunteer firefighters. These dedicated individuals continue to come out and play a critical role in the operation of the department.
