Upcoming Met-Ed Work Affecting the City of York

Please note the following upcoming Med-Ed work affecting the City of York in the coming weeks. Met-Ed will provide all proper traffic control and flagging services. Work will begin each day at 8:30 A.M. and end at approximately 4:00 P.M.

March 23-27, 2020, Met-Ed will be working at the following locations in the City of York to put additional lines in service:

  • 51 E Market St: The westbound entrance to the parking garage (from Duke St) will be closed to traffic in order to allow crews to safety complete the work. The main entrance at Market St will remain open
  • SE corner of E King St and S George St: Met-Ed will need to shut down one lane of the northbound traffic for the duration of the work.

Additionally, throughout the next few weeks, Met-Ed crews will also be performing inspections of electrical equipment at various underground vaults. Crews will spend a few hours at each site to clean and inspect the vaults.

Met-Ed continues work to maintain the electric system with appropriate protective measures in place. Almost all Met-Ed work is performed outside of homes and businesses with little to no need to interact with occupants. When it is required, appropriate preventive measures like social distancing will be in place to protect everyone’s personal health.

Please direct any public questions to Met-Ed’s contact center at 800-545-7741
