City of York to Host Martin Luther King Jr. Street Dedication

The City of York will host a Martin Luther King Jr. Street Dedication and Community March on Friday, August 28, 2026, commemorating the 63rd anniversary of Dr. King’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech.

Community marches will begin at 10:00 a.m. from two locations and will come together for the official dedication ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at Penn Park.

“This street dedication will serve as a lasting reminder of Dr. King’s legacy and our continued responsibility to advance unity, equality, justice, and opportunity in our community,” said Mayor Sandie Walker.

The community marches and ceremony will bring together faith and community leaders, young people from early learning through high school, and residents from across York. The event will conclude with the official unveiling of the Martin Luther King Jr. street designation.
