Nicole Davis Named Interim Director Of Economic And Community Development

Today Mayor Michael Helfrich is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicole Davis to the position of Interim Director of Economic and Community Development for the City of York.

Ms. Davis has been with the City of York since May of 2014 and has served as Deputy Director of Economic and Community Development since January of 2016.

Ms. Davis is charged with carrying out the vision of Economic and Community Development for the City of York through the 35+ employees who work within the department. In this role, she is responsible for promoting the City to the private sector in efforts to foster economic investment and neighborhood redevelopment. Her specific duties are largely centered around implementing programs that build capacity for small businesses in York City, supporting initiatives that create stronger neighborhoods, and marketing York as the hub for entrepreneurship and business growth.

Ms. Davis has a Bachelor of Science in Economics, and another in Finance from York College of Pennsylvania. A native of the D.C. Metro area by way of Jamaica, she returned to York to pursue a profession in economic development with the goal of helping York thrive. She lends her time outside of work to volunteering and contributing to organizations dedicated to financial literacy and education.

The Department of Economic and Community Development includes Bureaus of Economic Development, Health, Housing, and Planning-Permits-Zoning.

Nicole Davis replaces Shilvoksy Buffaloe who served as the Acting Director of Economic and Community Development since June of 2013.
