Christmas tree collections by York City staff will take place city-wide from Monday, January 6th through Friday, January 17th. Trees must be placed at the regular pick-up point by 6 a.m. on your designated collection days.
The York City Police Department will swear in 5 new police officers on Monday, December 30 at 1 pm in Council Chambers at City Hall, 101 S. George St. The new officers will be joined with friends and family. Brief biographies follow.
The Jackson St bridge in York City will be closed due to construction beginning December 18, 2024 until possibly December 31, 2024. The end date may be sooner or later based on weather. The construction is needed to repair age-related deterioration.
A detour will be setup around the construction to help motorists navigate the closure. The detour will utilize Jessop Pl., Kings Mill Rd., and Grantley Rd.
The City of York received a $75,000 grant from the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Comcast to help SCPa Works put Virtual Reality technology into prisons so those reentering society can train in occupations like plumbing or car repair and more.
The City of York’s Yard Waste Drop-off site will be closing for winter, January through March, and will reopen, weather permitting, on the first Saturday of April, 2025.
Due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday, Thursday, November 28th, ALL regular curbside trash collections on Thursday and Friday will be delayed one (1) day.
The York Water Company currently handles billing and payments for City of York refuse service customers. However, effective January 1, 2025, York Water will cease to be the manager of billing for the City’s refuse customers.
