On Wednesday July 29, 2020 at 7:00 p.m., there will be an unveiling and dedication of the headstone. The Laurel Fire Company #1 purchased a headstone to honor their members who died in the line of duty. There are currently three members names on the monument and all three were also members of IAFF Local #627. The headstone has been placed at the base of the Laurel Fire Company #1 monument located at Prospect Hill Cemetery. The ceremony will be casual and is expected to last less than 15 minutes.
All members of the fire department and the public are invited. Due to the event occurring during the summer as well as their wish to keep it casual, they ask attendees to dress for comfort. Anyone attending should enter the cemetery at the main entrance on North George Street and proceed to the office on the right. They will have personnel there to supply maps and directions to the Memorial.
