The City of York’s Yard Waste Drop-off site will be closed for winter, January through March, and will reopen, weather permitting, on the first Saturday of April, 2026.

York Community Christmas Tree Arrives Wednesday, November 12th

The City of York today announced that the community Christmas Tree will arrive in Continental Square in downtown York on Wednesday morning, November 12, 2025. Work in cutting down the tree will begin at 7:15 am. The tree will then travel 3.1 miles to its new home.

On Tuesday, November 11, 11:00 am, a POW/MIA flag will be raised at City Hall, 101 S George St, and flown in recognition of Veterans Day.

Bidding Open for Renovations at Penn Market, York’s Oldest Farmers’ Market

The Redevelopment Authority of the City of York (RDA) is pleased to announce that bidding is open for General Construction, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical work at Penn Market, the city’s oldest farmers’ market located in Downtown York.

The Marine Corps’s 250th Birthday at York City Hall

On Monday, November 10, 10 am, a Marine Corps flag will be raised at City Hall, 101 S George St, and flown in recognition of the Marine Corps’s 250th birthday.

Ribbon Cutting for Market Street Tree Replacements & Beautification

On Friday, November 7, 5pm, the City of York will cut the ribbon for the 60 new trees planted along Market St. The ribbon cutting will take place at the intersection of Market St and Beaver St.

Flag Raising Ceremony for Dominican Republic Constitution Day

On November 6, 9 am, a Dominican Republic flag will be raised at City Hall, 101 S George St, and flown in recognition of Dominican Republic Constitution Day. All are invited to the celebration.
