The City of York’s Yard Waste Drop-off site will be closed for winter, January through March, and will reopen, weather permitting, on the first Saturday of April, 2026.
The City of York today announced that the community Christmas Tree will arrive in Continental Square in downtown York on Wednesday morning, November 12, 2025. Work in cutting down the tree will begin at 7:15 am. The tree will then travel 3.1 miles to its new home.

On Friday, November 7, 5pm, the City of York will cut the ribbon for the 60 new trees planted along Market St. The ribbon cutting will take place at the intersection of Market St and Beaver St.
On November 6, 9 am, a Dominican Republic flag will be raised at City Hall, 101 S George St, and flown in recognition of Dominican Republic Constitution Day. All are invited to the celebration.
The City of York Department of Fire/Rescue Services invites all to an open house at the newly-restored Laurel Rex Firehouse at 51 S Duke St. on First Friday, November 7, 6-8 pm. Greet the firefighters and visit the fire education trailer.
City of York Mayor Michael Helfrich will hold a public hearing tonight, October 28, 6:00 pm on the 2026 Proposed York City Budget in City Council Chambers, 101 S. George St., York, PA. The hearing is a continuation of hearings held last week.
