Many York City residents are suffering from Arthritis, a painful condition that not only affects quality of life but also has the potential of having dire health consequences. In fact, the CDC reports that 289,839 York residents have Arthritis. To help combat this issue, the YMCA of the Roses (formally the York YMCA), is hosting a walking and stretching program.
In partnership with the York City Bureau of Health, the YMCA of the Roses is implementing the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk with Ease program, a six-week evidence-based program that increases participants’ mobility and decreases pain from Arthritis. The City of York Bureau of Health, York/Adams Drug and Alcohol Commission, and York Opioid Collaborative continue to distribute Naloxone the 4th Tuesday of each month. Individuals can pick up Narcan and receive a brief training on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose.
