Final Leaf Pick-Up Schedule

Mayor Michael Helfrich has announced that the final pick-up for leaves in the city residential areas will begin on Thursday December 14, 2023.

Christmas Tree Collections in York City

Christmas tree collections by York City staff will take place city-wide from Tuesday, January 2nd through Friday, January 12th. Trees must be placed at the regular pick-up point by 6 a.m. on your designated collection days.

York City Curbside Collections Delayed One Day Following Both Christmas and New Year’s Day Holidays

Due to the Christmas Day holiday on Monday, December 25th and the New Year’s Day holiday on Monday, January 1st, all regular curbside (trash) collections will be delayed one (1) day following the holidays for the entire affected weeks, Monday through Friday.

York City Final Curbside Yard Waste Collections Monday 12/11 & Tuesday 12/12

The City of York’s Yard Waste Drop-off site will be closing for winter, January through March, and will reopen, weather permitting, on the first Saturday of April, 2024.

Demolition of Bascule Dam Required, Part of The Codorus Greenway Project

The York County Economic Alliance (YCEA), in partnership with the City of York, will begin demolition of the Bascule Gate Dam on the Codorus Creek beginning tomorrow, December 5, as part of an effort to reduce flooding, improve water quality, promote public safety, and prepare for construction of the Codorus Greenway.

Parking Restrictions to Begin on W King St Next Week

No parking signs will be placed on the 100 block of W King St from Tuesday, December 5 through Friday, December 8 during the hours of 7 am to 5 pm.

The annual Light Up York will be Friday, December 1 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. You are invited. The annual Light Up event brings people to Continental Square in a festive and merry spirit.

York Community Christmas Tree Arrives Tuesday, November 14th

The City of York today announced that the community Christmas Tree will arrive in Continental Square in downtown York on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at approximately 9:15 a.m. All are invited to watch in person or online. You may follow the progress of the tree on the York City Special Events Facebook page at www.facebook.com/yorkcityspecialevents.

Four-Way Stop to Increase Safety Around Hannah Penn and Memorial Park

On Wednesday, November 8, a new four-way stop will go into effect at the intersection of Boundary Avenue and Spangler Lane/Edgar Street. The additional stop signs will improve safety for pedestrians walking to and from Hannah Penn Middle School or Memorial Park. Biker safety will also be improved along the new bike path extension of the Broad Street Greenway, an asphalt and concrete path which adjoins Hannah Penn.

New Playground for Children at Williams Park

The City of York partnered with Pennsylvania American Water, the York City Parks Conservancy, and the York City Housing Bureau to make the installation happen.

ARPA SLFRF Nonprofit Recovery Grant Program Application Closing Nov. 10 at 3 p.m.

On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) into law. The $1.9 trillion Fiscal Recovery Funds package is intended to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, including public health and economic impacts.

Narcan Distribution Event on Tuesday, October 24th, Last Event in 2023

The overdose-reversing drug Naloxone saves lives, but only if it’s readily available when an overdose occurs. The City of York Bureau of Health, York/Adams Drug and Alcohol Commission, and York Opioid Collaborative continue to distribute Naloxone. Individuals can pick up Narcan and receive brief training on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. The monthly distribution events in November and December 2023 will be cancelled.
