The City of York’s Yard Waste Drop-off site will be closing for winter, January through March, and will reopen, weather permitting, on the first Saturday of April, 2024.
The York County Economic Alliance (YCEA), in partnership with the City of York, will begin demolition of the Bascule Gate Dam on the Codorus Creek beginning tomorrow, December 5, as part of an effort to reduce flooding, improve water quality, promote public safety, and prepare for construction of the Codorus Greenway.

The City of York today announced that the community Christmas Tree will arrive in Continental Square in downtown York on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at approximately 9:15 a.m. All are invited to watch in person or online. You may follow the progress of the tree on the York City Special Events Facebook page at www.facebook.com/yorkcityspecialevents.
On Wednesday, November 8, a new four-way stop will go into effect at the intersection of Boundary Avenue and Spangler Lane/Edgar Street. The additional stop signs will improve safety for pedestrians walking to and from Hannah Penn Middle School or Memorial Park. Biker safety will also be improved along the new bike path extension of the Broad Street Greenway, an asphalt and concrete path which adjoins Hannah Penn.

The overdose-reversing drug Naloxone saves lives, but only if it’s readily available when an overdose occurs. The City of York Bureau of Health, York/Adams Drug and Alcohol Commission, and York Opioid Collaborative continue to distribute Naloxone. Individuals can pick up Narcan and receive brief training on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. The monthly distribution events in November and December 2023 will be cancelled.
