Collections to begin 1 hour early at 5 a.m. week of july 20 th – 24 th

<p class="Default">On Tuesday evening, July 21^stat 6:00 p.m., there will be a rally at Penn Park honoring the life and legacy of Lille Belle Allen. The group will walk on the sidewalks from Penn Park to the 100 block of N. Newberry St., where they will gather in remembrance of Ms.  Allen.</p>

<p class="Default">On Sunday, July 19^th, there will be a birthday/block party in the 500 block of Wilson Ct. As a result, a small portion of Wilson Ct. will be closed to vehicular traffic between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.</p>

<p class="Default">Physical labor during extreme heat poses increased risk to outdoor workers who must protect themselves against sun and heat exposure. Hot temperatures often result in heat-related illness like heat exhaustion or heat stroke.</p>

Today Mayor Helfrich and Commissioner Robinson announce that the York City Police Department Use of Force Policy is now publicly available on the front page of the City of York’s website at yorkcity.org

The City’s Yard Waste Facility at Memorial Stadium will remain closed for June and July and possibly longer.  The facility will not open as long as the City furloughs of reduced staffing and hours continues.

The City of York Department of Economic and Community Development and City of York Bureau of Health are pleased to announce the release of print ready files in both English and Spanish languages for York property owners and businesses to hang in their facilities.

On Wednesday July 29, 2020 at 7:00 p.m., there will be an unveiling and dedication of the headstone. The Laurel Fire Company #1 purchased a headstone to honor their members who died in the line of duty. There are currently three members names on the monument and all three were also members of IAFF Local #627. The headstone has been placed at the base of the Laurel Fire Company #1 monument located at Prospect Hill Cemetery. The ceremony will be casual and is expected to last less than 15 minutes. All members of the fire department and the public are invited. Due to the event occurring during the summer as well as their wish to keep it casual, they ask attendees to dress for comfort. Anyone attending should enter the cemetery at the main entrance on North George Street and proceed to the office on the right. They will have personnel there to supply maps and directions to the Memorial.

Curbside collections for the July 4^th holiday will run on the normal schedule in the City of York.  Because the holiday falls on a Saturday this year, collections are not affected.

On Saturday, June 20, 2020, Crispus Attucks Pre-School will be having their graduation ceremony at 605 S. Duke St. Because of this, the 600 Block of S. Duke St. will be closed to vehicular traffic from 3:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

The York City Zoning Hearing Board announces that it will resume its regular meeting schedule.

Due to COVID-19 issues the County Board of Elections has temporarily relocated several of the YORK CITY POLLS to the FAIRGROUNDS and to the ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. These relocations shall be TEMPORARY and shall only be for the upcoming June 2 Primary Election.

York City Parking will resume enforcement of the parking meters, parking lots, and operation of the parking garages located at 41 E. Market St., 25 W. Philadelphia St., and 15 W. King St. beginning Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

The City of York is collaborating with the York County Food Bank, York Fresh Food Farms, and other community partners to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables and other healthy foods by implementing a farm-to-pantry initiative as well as educational activities that promote healthy eating.

The City of York Department of Economic and Community Development is announcing the Micro Business grant application for those City businesses impacted by COVID-19. Applications will be accepted until May 18, 2020.

In an effort to encourage social distancing, the City of York Department of Public Works will be making changes to city parks that include restricting access to playground equipment, skateboarding facilities, and basketball courts.

To provide access to essential services in our downtown core we will continue to enforce meter parking in the Market District. All other meter enforcement in the city is suspended.

For the next several weeks many people will be at home instead of at work and school.
