Opening Day for York Revolution baseball is Thursday, April 25, 2024. Residents in the area of WellSpan Park will need to obtain parking permits for the season.

Weather permitting, York City curbside customers may begin to place yard waste at their designated pick-up point for collection on their normal recycling day, beginning Monday, March 4th.

On Wednesday February 7, 2024, at 0611hours, the City of York Department of Fire/Rescue Services was dispatched to 47 Columbia Ave. for a structure fire.

On Saturday, February 17, N George St. will be closed to traffic from Philadelphia St. to North St. So will the sidewalk on the west side of George St. in that area. This is to accommodate a crane lift to the KBG law firm building. Travelers can still take either Beaver St. or Duke St., which run parallel to George St.

Curbside Trash Collection Cancelled Remainder of This Week in York City

Low temperatures all week made for constant refreezing and icy conditions. A second winter storm combined with record low temperatures make it unsafe for crews to perform curbside collections the remainder of this week.

City Gamewell System Being Retired, Other Options Being Examined

The City of York today announced that its Gamewell fire alarm system is being retired due to difficulty of replacing central system infrastructure at the Rex/Laurel fire stations and the ongoing exorbitant cost and maintenance of the system. City Ordinance Section 1501.04(15) still requires maintaining a fire alarm system through a third-party contractor.

As we begin the winter season of 2024, the City of York snow emergency team wants to remind businesses of some of the York City Snow Emergency Regulations Specifically, as they apply to plowing of private parking lots and the disposal of snow.

Curbside Collections Delayed 1 Day for Remainder of This Week

Due to the overnight snow and hazardous driving conditions, the City of York announces to curbside customers that there be NO curbside collections today, Tuesday, January 16th. This affects collections Tuesday through Friday.

New All-Way Stop at West Maple and Manor Streets

A new all-way stop will go into effect at the intersection of West Maple and Manor Streets. Currently, there are only stop signs for West Maple traffic.

Improvements to Continental Square Are Coming

Major improvements to Continental Square are scheduled to begin the week of January 15, 2024. The improvements will make the Square more visibly attractive year-round as well as more pedestrian-friendly. No City tax dollars will be used to pay for the project thanks to the generous support of the Rotary Club of York and a new endowment at the York County Community Foundation.

Final Leaf Pick-Up Schedule

The City of York today announced that the community Christmas Tree will arrive in Continental Square in downtown York on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at approximately 9:15 a.m. All are invited to watch in person or online. Four-Way Stop to Increase Safety Around Hannah Penn and Memorial Park

On Wednesday, November 8, a new four-way stop will go into effect at the intersection of Boundary Avenue and Spangler Lane/Edgar Street. The additional stop signs will improve safety for pedestrians walking to and from Hannah Penn Middle School or Memorial Park. Biker safety will also be improved along the new bike path extension of the Broad Street Greenway, an asphalt and concrete path which adjoins Hannah Penn.

Narcan Distribution Event on Tuesday, October 24th, Last Event in 2023

The overdose-reversing drug Naloxone saves lives, but only if it’s readily available when an overdose occurs. The City of York Bureau of Health, York/Adams Drug and Alcohol Commission, and York Opioid Collaborative continue to distribute Naloxone. Individuals can pick up Narcan and receive brief training on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. The monthly distribution events in November and December 2023 will be cancelled.

The City of York has announced the 2023 “Trunk or Treat” event at the City Hall parking lot will take place on Thursday, October 26, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

The Future of York City Parks: Attend an Open House on October 2nd or 4th

The City of York wants to hear from you on the future of Farquhar, Kiwanis Lake, Noonan, and Bantz Parks. Please join us for an open house at either Shiloh Baptist Church, 740 West Locust Street from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 2 or at the York YMCA, 543 North Newberry Street from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 4. The open houses are meant to provide an opportunity for residents to share their ideas for the parks and interact with the design team. The City of York is in the process of developing Master Plans for the parks. The Master Plans will provide a blueprint for future improvements to the existing and potentially new park facilities. Your thoughts and ideas are important to help establish priorities for future park site enhancements. We look forward to seeing you at one of the open houses.
